Who
we are

Founded in 2012, SACJC is a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to supporting Sudanese immigrants assimilate into the local community of Jersey City. Operating from our community space, we currently serve over 600 individuals annually through community based events, informative workshops & classes, and youth programs. Our mission is to empower the Sudanese diaspora while promoting cross-cultural understanding. Despite limited resources, we have built a strong community presence, and want to increase to continue to be a positive impact on our community.

At SACJC Community Center, 595 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Jersey City, NJ 07304, we provide FREE Halal groceries to individuals and families in need every last sunday of the month. Our pantry is open to everyone, with a special focus on ensuring that Muslim families have access to Halal-certified food. We Offer: Halal meats, Rice, lentils, and grains, Canned goods, Fresh produce, Family-friendly pantry staples. No ID or registration required.

The SACJC Refugee 2 Work Program helps empower new beginnings & is dedicated to helping refugees and newcomers successfully transition into the workforce. Through hands-on workshops, one-on-one guidance, and strong connections with local small businesses, we support participants in every step—from resume building and interview prep to job placement. Our mission is to ensure that every newcomer has the opportunity to thrive, contribute, and feel at home in our community.
